Biography

Ogbuewu, Ifeanyichukwu Princewill is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria where he teaches Animal Physiology and Reproduction to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Animal Physiology and Reproduction from FUTO. Dr. Ogbuewu has Prof. Oguzie has successfully supervised over 8 MSc/PhD students and several undergraduates students. He has published over 100 research articles including meta-analysis in high-impact factor journals. In addition to his teaching and research activities at the University.

  1. Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position award by the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health (AHH), College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES), University of South Africa (UNISA), Florida Science Campus, Johannesburg, South Africa from July 01, 2018 – June 30, 2021.
  2. Travel grant awarded by the United Nations University Institute for Natural Resources in Africa Operating Unit of Cameroun (UNU-INRA-OU/CM) to enable me to participate in the summer training course on Computer Applications to the Analysis and Management of Natural Resources: Geomatic held at University of Yaoundé I, Yaoundé Cameroun from July 13 – 25, 2017.
  3. International travel, lodging and daily expenses grant awarded by Swedish International Development Authority (Sida) funded Programme Agriculture for Food Security (AgriFoSe 2030) in partnership with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) to enable me to participate in the Introduction course on Meta–analysis held in World Agroforestry Centre Nairobi, Kenya from November 28 – December 04, 2016.

Dr. Ogbuewu has been a lecturer and researcher in FUTO since 2005. He had his postdoctoral research fellowship (2018-2021) in the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, University of South Africa (UNISA), Pretoria.

 

Research Interest

  1. Identification and characterization of diversity tropical medicinal plant species used in animal reproduction intervention in southeastern Nigeria using their physicochemical content.
  2. Development and utilization of locally available medicinal plant-based resources for enhancement of productive indices and health status of farm animals.
  3. Optimizing reproductive efficiency and productivity of livestock and poultry through nutritional interventions using quadratic optimisation model.
  4. Meta-analysis of responses of livestock and poultry to novel feedstuffs/additives (phytogenics, prebiotics and probiotics).
