Biography

Dr. Charles Ikerionwu is an experienced Senior Software Engineer, and Researcher at the School of Information and Communication Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, with a strong background in Software Engineering. Currently, I am the Head- Department of Software Engineering and holds membership in several committees within the University. Lead- Software Engineering Research Group (SER-G). Former Post Graduate School Coordinator, department of Information Technology, and Research Representative-School of Information and Communication Technology. I hold a PhD in Software Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, UK; BSc, MSc (IT), MCA from Panjab University, and Punjab Technical University respectively, all in India. Charles is an astute National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Scholar. I am skilled in crafting compelling research proposals and grant applications, which have resulted in securing funding for multiple projects with multidisciplinary collaborations. Such funding agencies include TetFund NRF, NCC, NNPC, and NITDA funded projects on Artificial Intelligence, software solutions, and innovative research processes in improving Nigeria’s IT ecosystem. I am a member of the Management and Lecturing teams of the World Bank funded centre – ACE-FEULS situated at FUTO. Currently, the IEEE SB Counsellor at the University. I am supervising PhD and MSc students in diverse computing areas and multidisciplinary areas with computing components. My current research interests include but not limited to Software process improvement, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, BPO-IT and DevOps
