Biography

 Damian Obioma Dike, a 2008 doctoral graduate of Tennessee Technological University (TTU) Cookeville, USA, is currently a Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Director University Computer Center (UCC) FUTO. In this capacity he is championing the modernization of the UCC FUTO into a world class digital skill for employable opportunities in collaboration with USA based CSAAE group and professional firms.

He is immediate past Head of Department of Electrical Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria and had also served as Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department, FUTO from 2016 to 2018.

 He leads the EEE Departmental Solar Project group where with successful execution of various solar projects that supply power to EEE classrooms, Admin offices, G-lab and the Okiro building serving as the Admin block for the School of Electrical Systems Engineering Technology (SESET). He also leads Power Planning and Renewable Energy Research Group in Electrical Engineering Department and the Embedded Systems Research Group at FUTO with their current projects focused on Power System Automation; Design and Construction of Smart Seamless Transfer Systems, Development of Energy Management Systems, Community Power Pooling,  Renewable Energy Resources Integration, Energy Storage, Power System Planning, Reliability, Electricity Market Development, Power System Protection and Application of Modern Software Packages. He also serves as a Principal Consultant to DANUJ Resources Limited and President of Smart City Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited.

He worked with Cummins Inc. (Power Generation) USA as a Senior Project Engineer from 2008 to 2010, where he designed and supervised the execution of 53 low and medium voltage paralleling system projects.  Damian also worked as Deputy Director FUTO Consults Limited, Manager FUTO Bus Services and FUTO Alumni Relations Officer, and in several university committees.

Damian has over forty eight publications in both local and international peer reviewed Journals, and has successfully supervised three PhD, seven M.Eng and twenty three B.Eng. students.

Damian is happily married to Engr. Mrs. Blessing Dike and with three smart children -Ijeoma, Obioma & Chisom.
