Lemchi Jonas (usually called Jones) is a seasoned scientist/academic with over 30 years of cognate teaching, research and community development experience in the University (Imo State University, Okigwe, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and Hensard University, Toru-Orua), Research Institutions (IITA) and Development Agencies. He has vast knowledge of micro and macroeconomics, international trade and trade policy, agricultural marketing andfinance, farm management, production economics, agribusiness, research methodology, cooperatives, project analysis, etc. He has robust knowledge of University Administration (has served as HOD, SA to VC, Director, and currently as Dean Faculty of Agriculture). He is a leading West African agricultural marketing and value chain specialist with over 30 years of relevant professional experience in agricultural research and development work in Nigeria with a focus on agricultural marketing, value chain development and monitoring and evaluation. He has over 15 years of experience of in conducting value chain analysis and development.Excellent knowledge and experience of private sector and trade policy dimensions and market dynamics of agricultural value chain. Expertise in value chain and market competitiveness.Broad experience in project assessment (monitoring and evaluation and impact analysis). He has wide donor experience having worked on initiatives funded by IFAD, DFID, USAID, UNIDO, World Bank and AfDB. Has robust experience in supervision missions, and is familiar with consulting and drafting donor documentation (scoping papers, ToR, scopes of work etc.).Has excellent coordination, negotiation and mediation skills. Membership of professional bodies include Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN); Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE); Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FMAN); Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU); International Association of Research Scholars and Fellows (IARSAF), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan; International Society for Tropical Root Crops – Africa Branch (ISTRC-AB). He is highly computer literate. Prof Lemchi is married with three Children.
