Introduction
Telecommunications Engineering (TCE) is a branch of electrical and electronic engineering primarily concerned with the design, development, installation, testing, debugging and maintenance of devices and systems for the reliable exchange of information/signals in form of texts, sound, images or their combinations across channels and between systems via wired or wireless means. TCE as a course of study is enabled by the reality brought about by the rapid advancement in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the impossibility of one to be a specialist in all branches of this broad area. Furthermore, it is propelled by the need to train telecommunication experts for self-reliance, rapid industrialization in line with national goals in order to render the much-needed services in the ever-growing electronic communication ecosystem.
The program is focused on the cutting-edge research in the emerging technologies such as Internet of things (IoT), Machine2Machine (M2M) learning, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Next Generation Mobile Networks (5G), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and beyond, to address the future challenges in the telecommunication industry. The program is structured in such a way to excel our students in their field of study. The department features several industrial disciplines such as Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave, satellite communication, Optical fiber communication, Wireless & Mobile Communication and Analog & Digital Communication, that help mold students in these areas of discipline. The department is committed to prepare students for future challenges and impart the practical and theoretical knowledge in telecommunications that help students in demonstrating their skills and abilities to handle the telecommunications systems.
Our Vision
To cultivate the culture of excellence amongst students in Telecommunication Engineering and develop competence in critical thinking, innovation, creativity, problem solving skills capable of promoting professionalism in their field of study and in global technological advancement.
Our Mission
- To establish a favourable learning environment to enable the students adequately adhere to the culture of learning and empower them to face challenges confronting Telecommunication Engineering.
- To offer a well-balanced program of instructions, lab practices, research and development activities to our students.
- To imbibe student-centered content with emphasis on problem solving and hands-on tasks.
- To inculcate the spirit of teamwork and leadership among the students to make them socially and ethically responsible engineers.
- To produce professional engineers with high moral values, good leadership potentials and skills towards contributing to the enhancement of industry development and job creation instead of job seekers.
